Cycle Yorkshire website design and build

We’ve worked on digital projects with a team from various councils, road safety groups and a York-based video production company since before the Grand Départ hit Yorkshire’s streets in 2014.

First we built an app to help amateur cyclists ride the routes. Then after regular updates to the app to include the Tour de Yorkshire routes, we created a website to sit alongside the app. The site provides cyclists with a regularly updated digital resource.

What we did

Using fabulous footage of semi-pro cyclist Jamie Sharp, we created an engaging website featuring videos, maps and safety advice. It’s full of details about all of the routes from the 2014, 2015 and 2016 races. You’ll even find additional cycling routes across Yorkshire on the site.

We built in a useful blog allowing the team to update the site regularly, and incorporated one of the videos running in the background of the homepage. The website succeeded in providing valuable advice to help keep cyclists across Yorkshire safe.

A note from the team

“Working with a large group of people from different organisations was great fun but a challenge to ensure that everyone’s needs were met. We were also up against tight time constraints, and the weather played a part too for the days when we were filming the cycling videos. All in all, a thoroughly rewarding and successful project.”
