Whitby Visitor Guide

In 2003 the Whitby & District Tourism Association asked us if we'd  like to produce a new pocket guide for Whitby and the surrounding area. We were thrilled to have the opportunity to shape a new publication and over the next seven issues of the guide right up to the current issue, it grew in both size and circulation.

The Brief

The Guide's aim is to be an easy-to-handle source of information for visitors when they arrive in Whitby. It's packed full of useful articles and informative advertisements, giving information about places to visit and things to do.

The WDTA asked us to make sure it reflected the character of this historic seaport but it was also essential to make it self-funding by selling advertisng space.

The Work

Bow House design and produce the guide as well as sell the advertising space to many local eateries and visitor attractions to ensure the guide is packed with useful information for visitors. Despite it being jam packed with information, it remains a portable, handbag/pocket-sized publication.

We manage the project on behalf of the WDTA, including the print and delivery.

The Outcome

The Guide is a hugely successful and very popular little publication which is always in great demand in the Tourist Information Centres, restaurants, shops and other stockists throughout Whitby and the local area.
